Over half of all Belgian households use natural gas for heating and cooking. To be able to handle peaks in consumption, gas transmission system operator Fluxys holds gas in storage in Loenhout, 1,300 meters underground. The capacity of the storage facilities is being enhanced as demand in natural gas consumption increases. As selected supplier of cable and pipe seals, Roxtec has followed and supported the entire capacity enhancement project. Roxtec listened to Fluxys’s needs and helped out with special solutions.

Fluxys is the independent operator of both the natural gas transmission grid and storage infrastructure in Belgium. The company also operates the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. The Fluxys grid has 18 interconnection points, opening the Belgian grid to natural gas flows from the UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Russia and all LNG producing countries.
